“This shoe repairer’s finishing machine was used by Norman Kibble. He worked as a craft shoe repairer from a garage at the rear of his home in Barking until his death in 1989. Norman Kibble was severely blind and served his apprenticeship at the Blind Association training centre at Dorton House, Buckinghamshire. He began working from home during World War II. He acquired this machine, called the ‘Little Gem’, as well as a leather sewing machine, secondhand from the Blind Association.” Source –
